I am curious how you all feel about this? Should drug testing be required for those applying to receive money?

What would this accomplish? I'd need to understand the purpose before saying yes or no.

I can see both sides of the picture. From what I heard, it costs more money than it saves, but I think it is more about principle.

I had to take a drug test before becoming employed, so it seems fare. But then again, that is 2 private parties entering into an agreement. I don't know the legality however with regards to government required drug tests.

I would also support it more with the stipulation that when someone tests positive, they are given the option of treatment instead of just being turned away.

I'm for it, along with requiring finger-printing as was done in NYC.

When you get on the dole, you are surrendering part of your freedom to the state. The state therefor has the right to demand you live a drug free lifestyle while accepting money from the sate.

I'm also for baring anyone from benefits if they are convicted of a felony. At least for a long period of time 5-10 years. For the underclass that lives off crime and government handouts it would be a big motivator to not commit felonies anymore.

Requiring mothers to state paternity, or submit the children for DNA tests, at birth and having the state go after the fathers' for child support would also be beneficial in not having taxpayers footing the bill for anonymous deadbeat dads.
