Should we build a new city hall? And if so should we keep part or all of the old building and build over it. Or just bulldoze the whole slate clean and start over from scratch?
I would propose a 50-60 story tower in place of the old city hall wih the lower 10 floors being retail space with a food court - the middle floors being city hall offices and the upper floors a condo complex and hotls. with observation decks on the top and a restaurant
around the tower we could develop a amphitheater which could serve for public concerts , and events....as well as medal ceremonies for the olympics in 2024 if chosen - and could recreate bike path connections by eliminating the stairs and adding bike paths/walkways...and green space as well as fountains/water features, a splash park and more . Make it more like an inviting space like Post office square etc. and a destination. Maybe add a movie theater in the tower. for the people of the North End/West End..Govt Center area ??? what do you think?
