This new site ...BLDUP ... is anyone on this? It looks like someone trying to duplicate the archBoston community ... for profit.
Any thoughts?

The issue with ArchBoston is the requirement to look through multiple pages of commentary in order to find renders and construction pictures. If there was a way to see the most current renders at the top of pages at ArchBoston it would make this site better.
I am suggesting that he/she is posting to pull ABers to their site. Which is fine ... I just think its good to be aware that this particular poster is probably posting to drive BLDUP's pageviews up in order to be more profitable.
If its better ... its better and so be it.

The BLDUP people seem sincere in their interest to spread the word about development while making money. I wouldn't consider them trying to mimic this site since their goal is to be nationwide, not just Boston. Perhaps the idea came from this site, but they're not the only ones out there now trying to monetize this sort of space. CoUrbanize is, to a certain extent, as well. The business model is untested, though. Why would developers want to pay for placement on their sites? How else do you make any money, except advertising?
something off putting about the constant self promoting links by bldup on here of late
It would be nice if they would self-enforce on themselves the Reddit rule that you have to make a contribution to the forum or add to the discussion before you can self promote.
BLDUP has incredibly comprehensive coverage of all sorts of small to mid-sized urban projects in the area. I'll have to start referencing them more, the volume of their updates is really quite impressive.
