I'd rather see a Qdoba or a Chipotle. In a first floor storefront.

What's the deal with 24hr activity in Boston...I mean, come one we pride ourselves as a college town, and the latest anything is open is 2am?

And does anyone know what the restrictions are/what options are available 24hrs in Manhattan?

Look for Basho to debut at the new 1330 Boylston St. mixed-use building in the transforming Fenway area in 2010.

Restaurateur Jack Huang says the modern Japanese restaurant will be a ?little bit (more chic), sexier and trendier? than Douzo, his Back Bay eatery that opened on Dartmouth Street in 2006.

But Basho, which means ?the location? or ?the place? in Japanese, will be easier on the wallet compared to Douzo, where the average bill is $35 a person. The 175-plus seat Basho, which will have a lounge, sushi bar, raw bar and grill, will focus on Japanese small plates in the vein of tapas.

?We want to be able to cater to the medical area, Fenway residents and also the college students, so we?re hoping to bring the price point down to somewhere around $30 per person,? Huang said.

Huang will spend about $3 million to open Basho, which is being designed by Boston?s Office dA.

?Financing is hard, but we?re OK,? he said. ?We have a commitment already.?

Basho will serve lunch and dinner, remaining open until 1 a.m.

I concur. Some executive finally "logged up" to the "interwebs" and saw on the "tubes" there moving images. "We should use that. FOR EVERYTHING!"

Revitalizing Van Ness between Brookline and Yawkey way is a good idea though. It's a wasteland, even on game days. All that's along there is special parking for the BPD and overflow for media.

On non-game days, it could be the wild west.
 
Might as well mention I walked past the building yesterday and all the retail is still empty

The McDonalds is going to be demolished in a few months in a land swap with the RedSox. The Burger King is also on the chopping block sometime around 2010.
 
A recession is a bad time to trade 2-for-$3.33 Filet-o-Fish for empty condos no one can afford.
 
Interesting to consider how little of that vista existed 10 years ago.
