I think someone is offended that no one in NYC liked the ChiCom ESB.
I've lived in the biggest city in the world that you haven't heard of (Tianjin), and I can assure you, it is far from "opressed." If you have no knowledge of China besides what the media tells you, of course you will have a negative impression, but the reality is far different. And as I have already stated, the red color has been the Chinese national color for thousands of years; it is just a coincidence that it is also the Communist color, so even if you're anti-Communist, I don't see anything offensive. It is a celebration of Chinese culture and history that happens only one day every ten years.
