The first two pages are full of comments from 5+ years ago about the ridiculousness of the facadectomy.
 
Its like a stumpy exchange place with less effort. I know a lot of people disagree, but I think exchange place is complete laziness. The right way to use a historic facade is the hearst building in nyc or atlantic wharf.

Since it's a hospital, I'll cut it some slack.
I'm of this mindset as well. The solution they used is inelegant, but the reality is the demands of modern healthcare, just to meet Joint Commission standards, let alone excel in care, are beyond what most of the older buildings could handle, especially in regards to floorplan. Anything that can be done to maintain the look of the building is going to end up a form of facadectomy.
