Fan Pier Developments | Seaport

BB, that looks a lot like the MIT building that was built recently. Or it may have been Northeastern, can't remember exactly. Either way, it's too postmodern for my tastes.

How can you tell when a building is postmodern?

Come on, I'm looking for an essay.

Well...do you want the sterile art history exam definition I gave just a week ago, or do you want specifically why I'm not a fan of this "Linked Hybrid" stuff?

For starters, it was built in 2010 and there's no other real "style" for this generation (something I intend to be a part in changing). It's colorful, fairly amorphous, with an odd roofline, and is essentially an exercise in construction technology. If it were Modern, it would be a lot squarer. Not to mention, more attractive.

i don't think that model of the next building is that horrible, at least the building has some interesting angles and curves in it. I am holding off judgment until i see some better renderings and plans.

Why reserve judgment when the verdict is already in?

I think i would like this building more (doesn't mean i would actually like it) if it just wasn't beige. Beige looks terrible with Boston's gray skies IMO.

The cheap glass cysts create an atrocity out of an otherwise antipathetic concrete box.

Fallon thinking outside the box.

In the past, Cirque du Soleil have set up in the parking lots of Suffolk Downs and the Bayside Expo Center. I can't remember if they've been to Fan Pier before.

Great photo. Love the colors in the water and the Tobin Bridge way out there over the boats.
