I think its just the shear number of construction projects going on in the area. Statistically I bet the numbers are on par with averages. Being in construction is more dangerous than being a cop for instance, by a fairly wide margin I'm pretty sure

Boston EMS reports that after first responders rushed to the old L Street power plant after a floor collapsed while workers were demolishing it this afternoon, they were able to remove two injured workers fairly quickly, but the most seriously wounded man remained trapped in the rubble. Read more.

The powerplant is more tall, interesting, and inspiring than its replacement. I'll be sad to see it go, just from a visual landmark perspective.

You don't judge a giant structure by what it looks like from 3 feet away. Are you somehow insinuating that nobody would see the powerplant until they were literally right next to it? That's not how area-dominant buildings work.

It is a bummer they aren't preserving *any* of the smoke stacks. While I'm sure it would have been more structurally challenging, it would have been a nice nod to the plant's history to have preserved the older, yellow-brick smoke stack.
