Yesterday afternoon I had the honor of attending the groundbreaking ceremony for the EcoTarium's new Stoddard Exhibition Hall. This 8000 SF expansion adds a 6000 SF exhibition hall with 16 foot high ceilings to allow for the large travelling exhibits that usually only come to Boston. It also will add accessible restrooms on the top floor of the existing building and clear out space to create an expanded Early Childhood Learning space and other improvements. The new hall is expected to open next summer with the first exhibit an exhibition on elephants. This is one of the major components of the EcoTarium's 200th Anniversary in 2025.

I've been lax in posting updates. The first 2 images are from a few weeks back and the third is from our event last night. The steel is complete and they are now working on getting it closed up. The new bathrooms are also complete on the first level.
My fam is going to love this
We were honored to attend the Grand Opening Gala of the hall last night. We couldn't stay for the main program but were able to take some photos and see the new space. This is huge for the EcoTarium as it can finally begin to compete with the larger science museums nearby with big travelling exhibits. They also added new gender-neutral bathrooms on the main floor and make other general improvements. Now the focus will shift to a new Early Childhood Learning area, of which our son's exhibit will be a part.
