Current administration sucks ass, but this would be an obvious addition to the thread.

The white house is getting a ballroom added on to it by McCrery architectural firm, who specializes in classical architecture.

Looks way too ostentatious, but will be a great place for billionaire oligarchs to hob nob with the administration.

Trump administration bans modern architecture in new Federal buildings:
https://www.archpaper.com/2025/08/white-house-neoclassical-traditonal-executive-order/
That's... terrible.

Personally, I tend to like the classical styles more than any new style from the past 70 years (with a lot of exceptions both ways). So it's genuinely a bummer that these styles are being co-opted by a bunch of far-right authoritarians. More than a couple of times now on social media, I've seen accounts that post lots of cool pictures of classical architecture. Following them, I quickly find they want to RETVRN to a time when buildings were pretty, the country was whiter, and it was harder for women to get a divorce. It's getting harder to separate New Classical architecture from certain political movements. It doesn't help that Trump wants to jump in on this.

(To be really, really clear, I'm not accusing anyone on this forum of anything. I really do like poking in on this thread and appreciate all the posts.)

Out of curiousity, I went looking for what new Federal Courhouses look like, because I really like the one here in Seaport. Here's a list with links. It's an interesting mix of styles. The ones I like/dislike don't map very neatly onto old/new styles very neatly.

They try to steal everything, some have tried to steal the new england flag, they steal words and phrases, songs….etc. They only get to take it if we let them. I’m not just going to roll over and let them take everything, fuck that.

I pretty much agree with you, but at least with Trump's order, art deco is included in the approved Neoclassical architecture category, so maybe we'll see some art deco style Federal buildings go up.
