A Boston developer purchased a factory building from 1866 on 300 Southbridge Street with plans to convert it into 21 apartments. It’s on the register of historical buildings so a waiver by the historical commission was required to start construction.
It was mostly abandoned with some part being used as a community center until recently.
This is right next to the CSX elevated rail and neighbors with Miss Worcester Diner and Hurricane Betty.
I took a few screen grabs from the meeting, I’ll update it with higher quality photos once they are published.

I drive by this area relatively often and it's a perfect spot for a development like this, a Stop & Shop is right next door and there's good access to various other things.![]()
Grafton Street’s 491-unit luxury apartment complex moving forward after City approvals
Plans call for the creation of five four-story buildings, alongside a parking deck and an open common area featuring lawn space, pickleball courts, and a bicycle corral.www.wbjournal.com
Yes, I do agree with you. It seems like a nice community they are building in the area. They maybe could’ve made it even bigger adding one or two more buildings but there seems to be plenty to do for potential renters with amenities and some commercial space as well. Now let’s see how soon construction will begin.I drive by this area relatively often and it's a perfect spot for a development like this, a Stop & Shop is right next door and there's good access to various other things.

Other important projects I’d like to see updates on are Denholm, fairway beef, and the city needs to get answers from Madison properties as soon as possible or just take the land by Eminent domain and give it to a developer that is ready to build and fulfill the promise they made to the city.
Franklin Realty Advisors, a Wellesley-based firm behind a number of major developments in Central Massachusetts and others in Boston, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy....
It owns the Mercantile Center, a property in Worcester that was once part of the Galleria mall complex. When the mall was demolished and an old street grid restored, Mercantile Center’s two office buildings and retail space became a central part of a refurbished downtown.
The firm also owns the Worcester Business Center office building and adjoining properties in the small city of Southbridge: the 203-room Wellsworth Hotel and the 1.2-million-square-foot Southbridge Innovation Center...
Norton claimed between $100 million and $500 million in debt in his June bankruptcy filing, compared to assets totaling between $100,000 and $500,000.
I had very little hope for that plan anywaysThat does not bode well for his plans to build another hotel and 150 apartments on top of the Registry of Deeds

Yes, very true. I’m interested to see if the new fire station off Madison starts construction and if there is a plan with the old RMV. Some potential for bigger projects in the future.5 Salem Square and 35 Portland I am also anxious to see something happen at
