Maine Medical Center Expansion | Portland

The Inn block itself would likely be attractive to Maine Med.

They could always acquire the other housing buildings next to the church for additional space too.

Also an IDEAL SPOT for a TRAFFIC CIRCLE

With Trump's Medicaid cuts already taking effect and the Republican Party's imminent demolition of the Affordable Care Act insurance system, US healthcare is in for a rough ride, financially, over the next couple of years. We're already seeing hospitals close down major units, or shut down altogether.

MaineHealth's balance sheet says they're already carrying over $800 million in long-term debt after their latest Portland expansion project. So I'm doubtful that they're interested, or in a position to be buying up a lot of real estate right now. But who knows?

Good point; they're even selling their downtown HQ building (former ABB Environmental / Blue Cross / Sears) to the museum as part of that "buy all the parking lots" deal. At the same time, I'm (potentially in my naivete) surprised that all the MaineHealth hospitals, save the one in NH, are lumped into one subsidiary LLC; that provides a lot of room to sweep things under the rug as needed, in addition to making it easier to e.g. use operating profits from MMC to help pay for an improved E.R. in Farmington (not saying they're doing that, just that it seems possible since they don't report the individual hospitals' finances).

To be fair, they also have over $1bb in investments as of the same date and the generated over $200mm of profit in the same period.
