2161 Massachusetts Ave is getting real masonry for their luxury condo conversion.

Amusingly, the hero shot on their website (https://theavenueresidences.com) is a drone flight over Inman Square.

I don't blame them. North Cambridge isn't exactly a looker.

Bit odd but someone was measuring the windows on 2400 Mass Ave which is a CRA managed property planned for housing. I have no idea why they would be taking detailed window measurements if they plan to demolish.

Maybe the windows have salvage value. They look to be newer than the building, likely replacements.

The CRA is restarting the development process; they just sent out an email to abutters. I wouldn't be hugely surprised if whoever was there was basically gathering info for new as-is renders, as I kinda doubt the CRA intends to continue with whatever work product belongs to the previous architects.

I always loved this building. I used to go to a foot doctor there when I was a kid. But aside from the nostalgic part, the style of the refurbishing and expansion is great: mid-century modern with the pale yellow brick masonry and new industrial style windows does check off all the right boxes for me. So happy this building is being preserved and refurbished in a way that's even better than the original.
