Red Line Extension to Arlington Heights

And these people are why nothing ever gets done in Massachusetts about transit or housing. I hate hate hate the stupid hyper-local governance model of MA, especially inside 128.
This is the result of a government that works for wealthy boomers. You can’t put the toothpaste back into the tube.

I also can’t stand the anti-change mentality that is so prevalent nowadays. I often hear people say things like "I would love more housing/transit, but... it will cause the town to change." A lot of people think change is always bad and never supposed to happen. The character of a town/neighborhood is supposed to change over time; it's natural for our communities to grow and evolve. Do people really think we can improve our towns and cities without changing them at all?

Again, for the hundredth time.. the only thing that will fix Boston housing prices is a Bigly recession. It's yet another reminder of letting bubbles form is a bad idea, but now that it's taken it's hold, there's not much to do.

And that's what people really care about when they talk about "New Housing".

“It would be way more convenient, for sure,” said Lauren Flaherty, who now commutes via Alewife, where her husband picks her up by car. “But it would change the town.”

That was the best the Glob could find for the "opposition"?

I hate to break it to them but it's going to change anyway. The question is whether it's changing in a way that benefits everyone, or not.
