Portland International Jetport | PWM

Breeze announcing PWM-MYR today. Details to come.

However, the most significant announcement MX is making today is that they’re entering BOS

Breeze Airlines will add nonstop, year-round flights next year between the Portland International Jetport and Myrtle Beach International Airport in South Carolina.

The airline started offering that route this year with one stop, where passengers do not need to change planes. Now, the flights will be direct on Thursdays and Sundays starting May 2027.

“Every route we add to our network starts with the same question: where can Breeze’s direct service bring travelers a convenience they don’t already enjoy today?” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways, said in a news release. “These new routes and destinations now bring Breeze’s high-value, low-cost service to these cities, making affordable travel to great destinations more convenient than ever.”

Does not make a lot of sense to me seeing that only 95 miles separate Myrtle Beach and Charleston but golf enthusiasts will love it. PSM and BTV are also getting flights to MYR with Breeze is increasing service to Myrtle Beach by 70%.

I agree that Icelandair is a bit of a stretch, but it’s not impossible. They fly 2-3x weekly to Halifax, Which is a slightly larger, but overall similar market to PWM in terms of population, passenger mix and seasonal demand.

Additionally, BOS is actually their busiest station in North America. They run 3x daily BOS-KEF during peak season. Icelandair is retiring their 767 fleet at the end of this year and replacing them with narrowbody aircraft, That means that BOS will actually see a reduction in overall Icelandair seats, and Terminal E Doesn’t have much room to add additional KEF Frequencies… For that reason, I could see Icelander using PWM As a “reliever airport” Of sorts. It would most likely be a seasonal 2-3x weekly service, Similar to their Halifax service.
I wonder if there's a freight/trade angle PWM could take to lure Icelandair? Freight (seafood, specifically) is a huge part of Icelandair's business at BOS. Most of it is inbound (Iceland -> USA), but it enables them to operate high frequencies to Boston in spite of the lower than average load factors to BOS vs. other U.S. markets. Considering Maine's role in the seafood industry, they may be able to make a pitch to Icelandair that could make the route appealing in spite of the small passenger market.

Just on another note that breeze is going to Boston, which i thought was against going into markets that really didn't need the extra lift but go into small and medium sized. This is how JetBlue morph at logan

Works for baggage claim? 5' x 10' (can modify for several different aspect ratios and sizes) Dave's image is from last fall, though this year's fall foliage is brighter, better. (Portlander, Paul hasn't responded to my LinkedIn message, or yet.)

This version centers the lighthouse and the skyline better, eliminates the Westbrook smokestack and even catches the left edge of Franklin Towers. Not sure what to tell you TC, I know it is easier to contact him through his City of Portland email which is on the PWM site. I'd also recommend that the next time you're in the terminal go to the administrative office and his receptionist will get you in to see him if he's available which is always a better approach in my opinion.

I say hold off until the OPS tower is built, otherwise it will immediately look dated.

Updated Passenger Numbers- 2026 is currently 8,419.00 short of 2025... with 4 months to go.. we could beat 2025

The parking situation right now is the biggest issue and deterrent to fly out of PWM. I rode the shuttle bus the other day, which was full in the morning. People mentioned they rather pay the 10.00 and be inconvenienced by the shuttle then pay the 16.00 for the garage. I just can't understand why it is taking so long for a new garage.

September's enplanement numbers are out and PWM's count was 297,040 for a 14,078 gain over September 2025. This now puts the jetport 5,659 passengers ahead of last year's total with 3 months remaining. (y)

I'm not saying the parking situation is good, but I think price differential vs BOS+Concord is at least as impactful, if not more so.

Mac jets were smart in building a larger hanger than NEA which refused to build one...the owner also thought why build a new terminal.

Are those ancient hangars down at the end of Westbrook St. still in use? Those things look like they were built by someone who was inspired by Lindbergh's visit, and they've definitely been there as long as I can remember.
Also, who didn't want to build a new terminal, MAC or NEA?

NEA didn't want to build a new terminal, but MAC jets decided to open a second FBO. Because they didn't want to lose clients and the amount of complaints they have received, they finally built a new FBO

Thanks! That makes sense. I wish I had wandered into the old GA terminal for nostalgia before they tore it down, but that's on me. (Yes, I remember, and stood on, the "Kiddie Stands" that they had under the overhang on the tarmac side.)
