Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

Agreed 100%. I wish SST had ground level from in front of South Station because the proportions are weird in the render but the view is 20 stories up. We have no idea what it will actually look like from the view people will actually see.

Edit: damnit this started a new page...

Wow, it got even better. That's what a building should look like.

I like this version best as well. Put a modest cornice at the top that alludes (but doesn't parrot) the garage and "dress" the balconies and this'll be a winner.

^^^ Hadn't thought of that...Yes!
Or at least put some kind of simple triangular finials at the top of each of the "pilasters" to echo the triangles atop the garage cornice.
It would be great to see this square begin to reach its potential. Now about that brick mediocrity...

I think I'm warming up to this. At least these architects are trying to jive with the old building.

They did give this option too.

Both this and the one a couple posts up are much better than what they have now. They need to choose one of these alternates they proposed, theyre both much better than the lines stopping half way.

The crenelations are gone (a good thing.) This looks like One Dalton, Jr.

And massing is a lot like the Liberty building on the other side of the bowtie intersection. These two will play nicely together...

Now it looks like One Dalton's cousin, at 1/3 of the height it should be (with those design proportions, not because WE NEED MOAR HEIGHT)

Should've just changed the street level a bit and built it based off the last proposal...

Mostly glass, so it looks nice and will hold up very well in the long run.

Too bad this thing isn't going to be 150-175 feet taller.

I typically don't care about things being taller, but this one should have been given that design.

This is a great rendering of an above garage building on the top. Brilliant architecture.

I love that they're optimistically showing 212 Stuart St. I dug up this article from December 2018 which says that it's won further approvals from local orgs, but it looks like the lawsuit is still unresolved?

Will be interesting to see if this proposal meets the same fate.

I like both parts of the building themselves, but the junction between the old building and the new tower isn't satisfactory to me. I would like to see more of a transition. As it looks now, it looks like a tower was just dropped on the flat roof of the existing building. Something bothers me about that.

i'm surprised you see it that way. i don't think the design does that too much. The tower's vertical wall is set back only a bit from the garage's wall (nothing wrong there)... then, the rest of the building rises nicely in steps. The height is what it's going to be with the Shadow Law. The vertical lines look fantastic. This thing is going to be great, imo.
