I don't need to know who you are, nor do I want to but it's apparent that you're an angry, bitter little man with a lot of bones to pick.

That was a serious question though. You accused some of the most giving and charitable people on this earth of not giving their fair share and using their charities for personal gain, so again, what do you contribute? What do you do to better the world and/or the lives of others?

If it's nothing, which I assume it is, just say you don't/can't do anything.

KMP---I think you have it the opposite way. I'm not on the board attacking other people's views. I'm stating facts. I'm assuming your some GOVT hack or work for one of these Billionaire's by being there little puppet master.

You don't have to worry about what I do on this planet to help others--l will let GOD judge me in the end. For my good deeds and my bad deeds.

The way I view the world is you help others and not have a price tag on it when you can. Not steal from the OVERALL working class and claim its best for our society.

Thats my stance. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR SOCIETY besides trying to live off everybody's else dime?

Also you still didn't answer the question:
Yes--- Zuckerberg gave 75 Million dollars to a hospital---This is a good deed.
But what is the devil in the details?
Gates/Buffy Foundation have done great things to.
Howard Hughes Foundation
Clinton Foundation
I'm sure they have all done amazing things with unlimited free money but there is also that other aspect to it. When you don't pay your fair share and game the system you also lose the overall concept of the system being balanced for all Americans.

The obvious disdain for the messenger doesn't take away from the misuse of TIF funds and the ire that results.

With Vertex and most other seaport tax breaks, they simply facilitated companies that weren't going anywhere. Here, they simply took from Cambridge, and let's face it, a pharma company isn't moving elsewhere, the ones that aren't already here are clamoring to get in. Law firms and accounting firms aren't leaving either. GE on the other hand, makes sense and is more in line with the intent of the program. Even Liberty Mutual makes sense as back office insurance jobs have many possible locations.

Fidelity got big money from Marlborough to build their campus there, they reaped the rewards and then shipped the 3,700 jobs out over a decade to RI, NH and TX. So then Marlborough does the same thing to lure Boston Scientific out of Natick. That's all well and good, but for the state it's clearly a zero sum game.

Personally, I have no issue with using it to advance brownfield sites and reusing existing sites, as well as incentivizing companies to stay within or move to the state. However, when it gets to city vs city and is used in highly desirable and heavy demand areas (e.g. the seaport) or with employers that aren't going anywhere (big pharma), questioning the corporate welfare aspect from a taxpayer is fair game and should be expected and the answers should be transparent.

The problem with KMP and a couple of others on the board. They just want to kill the messengers and that bothers me. ---That is why I continue to throw the digs in to remember why the public got short-changed concerning the Seaport District.

Seaport is prime real estate. A middle-class family cannot afford to live in the surrounding parts of Boston if you did not buy Real Estate in the past.
Real Estate prices are becoming unaffordable for 1st time home buyers. But we continue to give tax incentives on PRIME WATERFRONT REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENTS-- That add no value to the overall public with the lack of transit into the area.

What is really going on?

When the messenger is so misinformed, they shouldn't have a platform. All you do is whine about the plights of middle class families as if they're entitled to more than they can afford and insult, demean and slander some of the leading charities in the city and the world at large. If it wasn't for the luxury of internet anonymity, I suspect and admittedly kind of hope that someone would slap a suit on your ass.

We all need to accept that we are all partially wrong about everything we believe. Rifle, that means you, and KMP, that means you...and I'm wrong too.

The bigger threat to a quality forum is not inaccuracy of statements...it's close-mindedness, disrespect, and downright contempt for each other.

Rifle should be open to the reality that income stratification is a natural phenomenon that can't be avoided in a free society. He/she should also stop making absolute statements about the "impossibility" of non-rich people living in/near Boston. Yes, it's gotten harder, and yes one might have to live in a not-so-nice neighborhood...but it's not an absolute

Kmp, on nearly every thread you comment on in this forum, you glorify elitism...as if capitalists are squeaky clean and never manipulate the system to keep others down. Be open to the fact that many capitalists haven't "earned" their wealth in such a simple, wholesome way that you seem to imply.

We are all wrong. Get over it. And stop spewing hate. That is what degrades this site, not the facts and opinions.

Capitalism is, like it or not, the law of the land. Adapt or die(not literally of course but those are the rules and if you don't want to play the game, shut up about it).

I do not disagree with this. And I am not sure why you think I do.

What you refer to as manipulation and 'keeping others down' is in most cases sound business practice. I'm not even sure what you mean by keeping people down and I will say that manipulation happens but it's not as rampant as people would like to believe.

Well, I can agree to disagree about the extent of it. I'm open minded enough, are you?

Manipulation is when companies or individuals seek to earn profits for zero-value-added work...and specifically lie about their activities so that the market cannot fairly judge the value, or lie about the factors of production used to produce the value so that shareholders sense positive profit when there is none.

A free market isn't free if the information is false.
There's the "efficient markets hypothesis" that says that customers/investors always find out the truth in the end, so profits correct themselves. But I don't believe in that hypothesis...so if you believe in it, then you and I are different in our beliefs.

But I am not anti-capitalism. If one watches a game of football...let the deserved winner win. But if the home team can secretly adjust the height and width of the goalposts during the game to gain an advantage, that's called cheating. And, yes, I do believe it happens quite prevalently in business these days...

So, not everyone's wealth is clean. Just like not every poor person deserves a nice house. There's a middle ground reality between you and Rifle that neither of you seem open to.

This comment alone show ignorance. So basically instead of trying to help explain or understand the person different views. They just don't have a platform in our room.

That is exactly who you are my friend. KMP

Ok great, keep it off the development threads.

yeah absolutely! I did not mean to imply politicizing was OK at all on development threads!

The problem with that is people complain what the Seaport is missing and what it doesn't have.

A lot of this development is connected politically.
Height, Massing, location, financing Street planning is all connected politically.
Everything flows through the BRA, State for approvals --

The height in the Seaport is dictated by the FAA, there isn't anything political about it. To maximize returns developers then max out the fatness/massing of the building given the height restrictions, nothing magical. If anything the BPDA getting involved is to try to stop the influx of squat short buildings from being everywhere there.

credit where credit is due.... you appear to be engaging in an actual discussion.

after you spent much of your time the past year trolling this site with quasi wannabe elitism and other garbage.

why don't you try writing a letter in support of the Garage?
