I’m all for parking structures to be hidden, but I’m probably the only person in here who actually wants a place to park my car downtown, because it’s just way more convenient.

People said the same thing about my generation, and the one before me. So I think we’ll be okay.

I’m pretty sure the building this replaced was itself cheap and mediocre quality, right? Not everything old is high quality, they had budgets back then too.

I’m usually anti NIMBY, but I get the concern of smelly diapers piling up in a dumpster behind a daycare near me.

With Mariel right there, there’s plenty of activity. The Vermillion Club is getting popular, and Chemist was packed. The new bar at the intercontinental was doing alright too.

I get the sentiment though. There’s more than just a disinterest in nice places, there’s an active hostility to them.

I think it looks good and fits in nicely with the other styles of buildings. I don’t buy into the idea that Boston has to be dinky just because.

I like the building. I think it looks good and subtly gothic-deco. It’s not going to turn the world upside down, but it’s a net positive I think.

How come the reaction to Seaport is so much more negative vs. Assembly?

It helps that they’re mixed in with other types of architecture and style I think. It brings a modernism to the skyline that was needed.

I think there’s a lot of truth to that. For the record, I’m exclusively a Seiko collector (low to high end). I see the money in Boston not going to things that make life more pleasant and livable. This whole thing started from discussion about the Winthrop square fountain. Many people here...

That’s exactly what I mean. Nice things are snobbish to people here, so we don’t have them.
