MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Well that's because I was intentionally looking to serve areas that would not be covered by Regional Rail. You're right that Commuter Rail would be inadequate, that's why I'm saying we need Regional Rail. Complete with EMUs, one seat rides to downtown, Back Bay, the South Side, and transfers to...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Right down the middle of the McGrath and Fellsway would be a good one. Go out to least to Rt 60, maybe further. But almost anything would be fine. Ban cars on Cambridge St from Lechmere to Harvard and lay tracks. Or have a Cambridge St GLX be mixed traffic in one direction only and alternate...

Massachusetts Regional Transit Authority (RTA) Improvements

I'll start off with a simple one: an express bus from Wachusett Station to Greenfield Station with stops in Gardner, Baldwinville, Athol, Orange, Millers Falls, and Turners Falls...

    Development Map and Chart

I love how the map in the original post on this thread is just a snapshot of the construction scene from 10 years ago. If I ever catch up with what's going on again, I promise I'll try to overhaul the map and update it. It'll probably take a while to get acquainted with all the new projects...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

GLX never should have been built within the same ROW as a viable Regional Rail line to begin with, so now especially I don't see why we need to bend over backwards to accommodate GLX through West Medford. Anyway, the New Hampshire Main Line bridges over the parkway and Mystic River are...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Great questions that I do not know the answer to, unfortunately. I'll see if I can get more details. That would be the ideal situation for sure.

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

You might be right, but I'm not sure. There's definitely an old garbage dump somewhere near the southwest corner, but I thought it was just a small section. I would love to see the whole thing removed and fully restored to marshland. 😞

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

I'm not sure if you're familiar with Centre St in Malden, but it doesn't really make sense for people to park in the Centre St bus lanes. Most of the road is lined with strip malls set way back from the street. I don't think it will be much of an issue. A grant that only provides enough for...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

MBTA bike and bus lanes have been striped on Centre St in downtown Malden, with more markings going down. Here's a page showing the final layout with the grants they received: https://www.cityofmalden.org/853/Lane-Changes-and-Signal-Improvements-on- Hopefully this paint-only project will be...

Biking the Boston 'Burbs (Trails, MDC, & Towns beyond Hubway area)

I'd love to plop a multi-use trail on the abandoned I-95 roadbed, but in reality the roadbed needs to go. Completely. It cuts off Diamond Creek (approx 42.439259, -70.993974) and the Pines River cannot properly drain out between tides during a surge, not to mention all the acreage of marshland...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

They're currently not planning anything for Wedgemere or West Medford because there's no funding to start planning yet. Once funding for those stations comes up, they will absolutely build them as full-highs. Most likely, the T is going to pursue full high platforms on everything that is not...

North Station, Charles River Draw, & Tower A

The only place where double tracking to Reading is truly tricky would be Malden station. That station has inadequate passenger circulation anyway, and should probably just be blown up and redesigned to allow for a total of four tracks and two islands between the two modes, and add/improve the...
