Hopefully I can clear this up. The news article and the first picture are related to development parcels in the Hamilton Canal district in Lowell that the city sold to Lupoli Companies for redevelopment (that mid-rise is planned on the parcel directly across the canal from the new court)...
Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown
Great shots Downburst. Thank you for the photos. I love the last photo; does anyone else see the silhouette of a construction worker on the top of the core?
Re: Pier 4
I have always wondered how buildings so close to the ocean keep water out of their basements. Wouldn't it be more cost effective to drill a few caissons or pylons (whatever they are called) down to bedrock and anchor the floors above sea level to them? Are buildings with basements...
I found this video of an incoming flight to Logan. The guy who filmed it did a great job he got a really nice angle and you can even watch it in 720p.

Check out this video on new development in Lowell from the folks at The Lowell Plan. There are some great aerial shots. Many of the buildings shown are already under construction (and they even left out quite a few buildings). I had not heard anything about the Tanner Street redevelopment (which...
Hi everyone,
Lowell is one of six finalists for Google's Model Your Town contest. The Model Your Town contest asked individual's or teams of individuals to use Google Sketchup to create renders of buildings for use with Google Earth in towns and cities that did not have renders. A woman named...
I live in Lowell. HCD is progressing nicely. They have put up pedestrian bridges and they have fixed the bridge that these trolley lines will use to head over to the train station. All of the mills that were slated to be rehabilitated are complete. There is one more rehabilitation of the old...
Yes the idea about the light rail streetcar system was pitched by an urban planner that the city hired. I think the city is waiting to make a decision on that while they work on the Hamilton Canal District. The Hamilton Canal District has already seen a few new buildings and rehabs of mills in...
I have never heard anything official from UML concerning the extension of the Lowell line or any added stops. Come to think of it UML owns a large parking lot that abuts the tracks you are speaking about that continue on up through Tyngsborough and into Nashua. That would be the perfect spot for...
UMass Lowell has been on a building spree as of late. There is one project that is fully clad and is nearing completion on the main campus along the Merrimack river. This project is the Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center which is a six story building that will be used for research and...
These buildings will be replaced with a new court house and some other developments that are part of the revitalization of the Hamilton Canal District (which is the southern end of downtown). The area has seen many mills rehabilitated into condos and apartments. There is also a new garage with...
