A few more details up on the portal for 221 Congress Street proposal. Mostly studio apartments of 269 sq. feet -- that's snug baby! I assume a "sustainable, car-free" lifestyle means they're forgoing parking...

Spring Street was still a narrow, cobblestone street at that point. High Street was two-way. I'm guessing a trolley was still using the tracks going down the middle of the street? Based on the cars this was probably the late 30's or early 40's?

That's what I thought it was, looking at it from the back of the McLellan House. It appears that the adjacent buildings have been torn down or substantially altered. And where's that cupola that's towering over the building on the right side of the image? Looks like it would be on Park Street...

Interesting. Seven stories and 87 units is substantially larger than what was proposed a few years ago. My recollection was that building was going to be called "Hayrunner" and have underground parking. Guess they couldn't market condos that would have views of both a Big Apple and a 7-11...

I agree, even after all these months the "top hat" adornment has not grown on me. I hope they will reconsider before construction plans are finalized.
