Some infill being promoted for 1107 Westminster.
This is next to a proposed SWAP development.
Site is the giant urban hole next to Ogie's. Various plans for it over the last few years. Hopefully this sticks.
I think it's better the the curvy one first proposed.
Is all the land for phase II part of the 195 District? I am curious if they're mum on that because they wouldn't need to involve that body for approvals? I'd also be shocked if Brown commits to any new building projects in this uncertain...
Side note but one thing the Marsella Group should be doing is advocating the city make the Exchange/Francis St. intersection more pedestrian friendly. It's super uncomfortable to cross there.
Went last night and was good. I do think it's going to be dependent on conferences and events with a smattering elsewhere. Curious if they will do their own programming as well. The cauliflower 65 dish at the Indian place was awesome.
The bluedog proposal is the worst of the bunch IMO. Looks bulky, unimagined and would sit very awkwardly with parcel 4. they must be paying folks to write this. Much prefer design center and transom.
Does anyone know if there is planning around connecting the public space (trail along the water in front of stadium) to anything south? Would be great to have a system passing Swan Point eventually. I think north of that the intent is for developers of those parcels to include a public...
Updated renderings for phase one of parcels 14/15: https://www.195district.com/_files/public/Documents/Agendas/2025/2025-02-19/2025-0219_DW%20I-195%20Presentation.pdf It’s giving brick. Better than that insane blue monstrosity in any event.
Apparently the commission is having a meeting tonight and reports from RES and Utile have been added to their website with reviews of three of the parcel 5 proposals. https://www.195district.com/documents/
Parcel 1A as well! https://www.195district.com/parcel-1a/ Only 10 units proposed through (but puts your tally to over 1,000) :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
I am optimistic overall. No shocker things are moving at a glacial pace!
On point three, I hope the Pebb Capital approved proposal gets someplace: https://pbn.com/downtown-design-panel-to-discuss-proposal-for-191-unit-apartment-complex-in-jewelry-district/ They've had a number of approved projects over the years but no action.
Always shocked about what a massive footprint it is when walking by.
They must have acquired the little parking lot at Richmond and Ship St.? It’s fenced off and cleared like the rest. Some renderings have that parcel integrated but earlier ones not as much it seems…
Has anyone seen any data-based argument against the "talent pool" being an issue point? Genuinely curious. Been in RI since 2018 and most people I know are professionals from other cities who were priced out. Also people generally have been so on the move over the past 4 years. And we are having...
