When is the completion date?
It was earlier reported that it's open date would be late 2025 or early 2026. My guess it will be sometime in 2026 based on how slow the progress has appeared. It unfortunately might not be available for the winter when it would be most needed.

This photo of the Pawtucket-Central Falls Transit Center was taken from the Conant Street Bridge. Four of the residential projects from the above table are visible giving a good perception on proximity to the transit center. From left to right: Shortline Lofts is the 3 story building in the far left bottom corner / 327 Pine Street is the collection of old and new structures in and around the tall brick smokestack by the black building / Dexter Commons is the tall new construction structure in the far background with blue sheathing / 125 Goff is the new construction in the center with white sheathing at the top of the station parking.

The RISE development still in the design process would be just a bit behind the tree on the right border. It would run parallel to a portion of the station parking lot.

An old mill structure close to the train station has recently gone under contract. The sale of the former 38,000sf Briggs building at 248 Pine Street should close in early December. It is expected that the property will be converted into residential space. It is adjacent to the proposed new construction RISE development at 258 Pine which is still going through planning and approvals with no groundbreaking having yet taken place.

Update on two housing developments listed in the above table - RISE/258 Pine Street and Shortline Lofts/180 Weeden Street. Note that there have been many changes to the RISE project with an entirely new and different design splitting it into two separate buildings and increasing the number of units to 190.

Its so weird how places just forgot to build stuff and then a couple years ago were like… oh yea! Looking around pawtucket its hard to find anything thats been built within the last 20 years. Its nice to see that this is changing now, but wtf.

I'm glad to see that they're building more units here, but the new design is terrible compared to the previous iteration.

I agree. The first design was far better. The article stated that the revised design saves quite a bit of money and it's cheap look would seem to confirm it.

Wow - what a downgrade. Was excited for Pawtucket. This looks like garbage.

Does anyone have the site plans for the before and after versions of this project? I know the renderings aren’t showing precisely the same angle, but I’m surprised the new version has 10 more units than the old when it looks much smaller going by the renderings alone. And the article says they’ve decreased both the height AND the footprint of the building, so how are they fitting in more units? Did they eliminate commercial space that was planned in the previous version?

And as everyone else has said, the new design is a real disappointment. Particularly disappointing is the fact that the developer’s team was touting the fact that they will provide MORE parking spaces than the ITE manual says this type of development would generate. The article even says, there are no parking requirements in the Conant Thread TOD district.

Recall that this was the TOD vision plan for the Pawtucket station area. Look at that, and then consider that the land adjacent to the station was immediately consumed for surface parking for the station, and now development projects around it are also prioritizing surface parking. There are lots of nice TOD plans out there, but when push comes to shove, nobody ever seems to find the nerve to stick to the plans and do without all the parking.
