    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

As you mentioned, the seconds a bus saves compound and affect every single passenger all day long. Faster trips mean more trips, and better reliability, which means leaving less buffer on your commute. All that said, I'm OK losing a battle here and there if momentum can be maintained and the...

Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

so this thing is taking traffic both ways? I meant to go across it last weekend and forgot/drove the other way. I'm so stoked!

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

If I understand correctly, the reduced bus service is due to a group of factors: fewer operators (getting close to being resolved) fewer busses bus maintenance facilities under construction, which maybe is causing #2? #3 is a very long-term project IIUC. Arborway is only at 15% design, and...

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

Someone mentioned that SC rail would be skipping the short-turn shuttle trains on the weekends when headways are the longest. That seems frustrating. Is there any chance they could use busses on the weekends instead? Ultimately, it would be great to use BEMU's for these short-turn shuttles...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

I was unaware that the Red Line was expecting to receive more than 1 pair per month before the OL deliveries were complete. That's pretty exciting, even if they get somewhere between the schedule and the worst case. There are now 3 full CRRC train-sets running consistently on the RL. I expect...

Bill Russell Bridge | North Washington St.

yes, not to mention that the FRP is the first thing that's gonna fall off, polluting the water, and of course it won't be replaced either. A bridge like this doesn't really need cladding. It's just hiding wear and tear from being inspected, and adding to the cost and the enviro impact.

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

I used to work in one of those buildings, but haven't been by there in over a year. Even though I knew this was happening, I'm still so disappointed to see it. They couldn't have kept the corner facades, and just replaced the other structures? Like, that or designed something beautiful and to...

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

wow that's such a shame as it'd be an ideal station locale. I suppose with the twin constraints of getting over the Mystic, and under the Broadway and Revere Beach Pkwy bridges, the only way to change it would be to make the mystic crossing a draw bridge? Any other potential solution here?

New Red and Orange Line Cars

It certainly seems like all the new cars are just parked. We've had three full train sets since at least April, and yet there's rarely if ever more than one set running at a time. Just yesterday they changed out which set which maybe is progress? I know I heard one was in testing the other day...

New England Revolution Stadium | 173 Alford Street | Boston-Everett

Do we think the women's soccer team would eventually play there as well? I expect they would find other uses for the stadium as well, even if they don't include most of the field, the way Fenway Park does.

I'm low-key hoping they're already into working on signaling.

    Biking in Boston

I'm not suggesting allowing rights on red. I'm suggesting protecting peds and cyclists with a lit-symbolic "No Right Turn" sign in addition to a "No Turn on Red" sign. Example (with a scofflaw driver): I do think you could get cute and allow some rights on red in certain cases where there are...

Transit via the Grand Junction Corridor | Cambridge and Boston

I suggest to start w a CT2 re-route that runs over the rail ROW where feasible. Pave along the tracks if it helps. Connect it to the SL3 and add signal priority BRT and you've got 80+% of what you would with LtR. MBTA figures out the routing, but maybe a segment that overlaps with SL3 extension...

    Biking in Boston

because they turn on and off depending on the light cycle. Sound confusing? You wouldn't be the only one. But just like anything, it'll be old hat if there are enough of them.
