If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

I would put it on Dartmouth Street, which would pretty much provide a direct BRT/LRT linkage between Back Bay and Kendal area. The Dartmouth ROW is extra wide so no eminent domain would be needed in Back Bay save one or two buildings on Beacon St. It would effectively direct the memorial drive...

Acela & Amtrak NEC (HSR BOS-NYP-WAS and branches only)

Absent a monolithic bypass, I think the best you can do for the shoreline is going to be incremental bypasses of the most problematic areas. These smaller projects could be done independently so one section doesn't hang up the rest of them. Although they wouldn't result in full blown HSR, it...

Roads and Highways General Development Thread

At one point(1968), there was also a plan for an intermediate beltway between 128 and 495. http://www.bostonroads.com/history/1968-map_outside-128/

    Green Line Type 10 Procurement

I prefer option 3, just because it has the most green. That said, I wonder why none of the options save one have more than a pinstripe of green on the front end.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

I believe a blue line extension was officially considered as an alternative in the early stages of planing for the project that ultimately became the GLX.

Freight and General New England RR News

Also quite disingenuous to claim that the towns make a paltry revenue from rail related business, while ignoring how much the towns save from not having to truck out the trash.

Per the Rep-Am, the order includes an option for 300 additional cars, so hopefully they wont end up being unicorns.

Acela & Amtrak NEC (HSR BOS-NYP-WAS and branches only)

The Acela II's can't come fast enough. I had the opportunity to ride the Acela on my way to a conference in Virginia this past weekend. The ride quality was a bit bumpier than I expected, although I don't know how much of that was due to the track conditions.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

I think a stop in that vicinity might be better a little farther east towards Webster Square and the Price Chopper which has a lot more redevelopment potential, but half the catchment area is still going to be cemetery. I prefer a +1 extension that incorporates a new layover, either a stop in...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

For all we know we'll get a pleasant surprise like the Congress st routing for the NSRL being deemed feasible as an alternative for something else in the future.
