The "fence blocking off half of the entrance" is a mass DOT thing, if you make an opening in their guard fence you can only remove one section of their fence and missile barrier... if you have an issue with it they would be the ones to talk to;)
I don't like that they put a fence up between the Stop and Shop and the stairs, you can only enter via the NB parking lot. Maybe that will change when Stop and Shop redevelops. I think part of the goal was to prevent people from parking at Stop and Shop to commute or using the Stop and Shop...
