This whole section of Columbus has been devoid of commercial activity for eons. Even with the retail opening up in Lightview and ISEC finally getting a replacement coffee shop, it still feels like it's still missing something. Wonder what it'll take to get things feeling "right."
Seems like they're just going to keep changing it until it gets built. This is what, the fourth iteration of the design? Feels like this one will stick, at least.
I was more partial to the third design.
Missed this originally, and the meeting ended up being cancelled, but there was a task force meeting scheduled for 6/22. Wonder if it’s a sign that the ball might get rolling again on this project sometime soon...
This is already kinda sorta enacted. The Sheraton (now dubbed 39 Dalton to make it sound more like a dorm and not a hotel) is currently housing NU students and is fully staffed by university residential life staff.
Looks like this might be a proposal to formalize the decision.
Sidewalk work in progress. Pictures only show the work in between ISEC and EXP, but there’s also some work happening at the front of the building as well. Construction fence was pushed out slightly to accommodate that work.
Things aren't even cheapened in places - they're just deliberately wrong. Certain buildings that are no more than 4 stories tall look like they go up at least 12 stories.
EDIT: Also lol, they turned East Village into a giant concrete slab for some reason.
Rename Mass Ave to Matthews maybe, in honor of Matthews Arena (original home to the Bruins and Celtics). That way, Mass Ave is cleared up to be used in renaming Hynes.
EDIT: Seems as if @bigeman312 had the same idea as me.
