Well this is a most welcome development: last year a couple of guys started a Cars & Coffee in my town of Bedford, and in a year's time it's really grown to be quite an event -- 197 cars showed up this past Sunday. At first the selection was pretty limited to some muscle cars and pricey newer stuff like Porsches or WRXs or Land Rovers, but now it's really matured into a show that has a bit of everything. And the best part is it only takes me 4 minutes to get there

Lastly for now, Lucid Motors was there with a pair of cars anyone could take for a test drive. I didn't get behind the wheel but I rode along on two drives and the dude freaking hooned it. 0-60 in 2.2 seconds is sheer violence, and the thing stops just as maniacally. It has an 88 mph limiter in test drive mode and it takes no effort at all to smack into that thing.

Starfire! My dad had a 1962 that was his first car. He wrapped it around a light pole on Morrissey Blvd. and has been chasing one ever since. Mom rolls her eyes every time he finds a new one for sale.

That Starfire definitely won my personal award for favorite pre-1980 car at the whole show. The level of detail to all the body- and brightwork was insane.

Also that Ferrari 355 Modificata sounds like complete heaven. And my kind of build.... all the right chassis bits upgraded but still looks mostly stock.

And speaking of '90s Ferraris, I freaking saw a complete unicorn on 128 going through Waltham at rush hour at the beggining of April..... say hello to 550 Maranello

I'm guessing it's been 15 years since I last saw one being driven on the open roads, and it very well could be that long until the next time. Ahhhhh I wanted to follow it so bad but I resisted.

Anyway, here's my other sightings from April.

I know these things were poorly made but I positively love the styling of all the LH platform cars, and one in this good of condition is a complete rarity these days

Last for now, another late '90s survivor beating the odds.... a first gen Audi A6 Allroad THAT IS STILL RUNNING

Those LH Chryslers still look great. I remember how cool the Intrepid looked, both generations. The Charger is a vastly superior car, but it never looked as good as the Intrepids.

Both gens of Intrepid were far and away the best looking affordable sedan of their era. Especially the second gen, they are right up there with DB9s or XKEs for most gorgeous curvy voluptuous car designs ever. And yes I know I just compared an Intrepid to a XKE.

Rough Point in Newport. Certainly could have passed for Pebble that day though. By the time we got there most of the best cars were either under plastic or being taken up the street for judging at the Tennis Hall of Fame.

I gather this 911 Dakar is kind of a big deal too.
