South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I'll try to swing by today or tomorrow and check out the bus terminal. The escalator from the platform is such a huge win vs walking all the way down to Beach St and back up the escalator. Too bad, as I took a number of buses this summer and was hoping it would open during the peak season.

Has nobody gone in? No pictures? No MBTA press release?

I'm just excited, is all, and I don't go through South Station so much anymore.
I was there last night but didn't have time to check out the bus terminal. One thing I did notice, though, was that the new entrance/escalator bank from the arched concourse was not yet open. With the fare gates about to go in, access to the bus depot is about to become worse, rather than better, unless they get those escalators running.

Not to be that person but like what a lack of seats, I know not many people wait very long for buses but as someone who has experienced their fair share of Greyhound delays...
Agreed. Even without delays, I've spent many hours there waiting to transfer between buses, or from a train to a bus, or whatever.

It looks like there's some seating at each gate, but not much. Maybe that's enough in the usual case, but certainly not when a whole bus is delayed. I hardly ever go through there anymore, so I'll have to plan to go take a peek sometime.

I once heard someone say the South Station bus terminal feels like the only bus terminal in America that treats riders with any respect. From my experience, that seems true. The old half is still really nice and this extension looks great. But jeez, put in some seating.

The new escalators are coming soon™

Does anyone know why the new gates are so much lower spatial density than the old gates? Seems they are giving each gate much more space in the new section, resulting in fewer potential gates.

I guess my impression of the older gates was that they did not seem that overcrowded. The terminal never felt as crowed as Port Authority, for example (yes that facility can be subhuman). But I also never use busses at peak travel time periods.

Episcope Hospitality will open a restaurant, café, and bar on the 9th floor of the long-awaited South Station Tower (680-682 Atlantic Ave.) in spring 2026.

The Moseley is the 51-story glass skyscraper’s largest restaurant. Expect salads, seafood, and steak — “approachable classics,” Morton says, and a flair for private dining. It’s named for Alex Moseley, an early Leather District vendor.
Proper Fare is an all-day café and market with sandwiches and grab-and-go food. Finally, there’s a yet-to-be-named bar and lounge.

This guy, David Morton, is an absolute joke. I work in the industry, and he is notorious for burning bridges and swindling deals. He took his father's good name and without the talent or integrity, faceplanted it throughout. Not sure how he was able to pull this rabbit out of his hat to get this. He used to be DMK Hospitality, but that name became so tarnished that he had to change it to Episcope or whatever. Stay away.
