Just want to say I love the way you organize your posts. All the detail and organization is much appreciated!

Yea adding the project addresses and links is awesome. Otherwise it can end up as just a wall of posts where most ppl dont know what theyre looking at. Especially when a project is just a hole in the ground if its not labelled nobody would know which hole it is. So def helps a lot!

Finally some noticeable progress of the facade—looks really nice!

Last renders on BPDA showed this a lighter/gray brick, but the red looks great. Hand-laid or panels? These articulated facades have done a good job blending old and new in a few spots (townhouses on Arlington St in Bay Village are probably the best example).

A rare case of when the constructed building looks better than the renders!

Much better

-Edit: looking at this render that building all the way to the right caught my eye. Somehow I dont remember this project happening.

-Apparently its from 2007, guess thats why. Penny Savings Bank condos. This must be one of the first facadectomies in the whole city. Either way very cool, I had never noticed this building before.

So good and so much better than the renders. More please! I wish more modern buildings had examples like this with modern takes on older building forms/materials. Something like this, tubman house etc are still brick mid rises, but have a modern twist to them. Id love to see a lot more attempts. You dont always have to copy older styles to make successful masonry buildings with that similar feel and shape. Most developers these days seem to think its one or the other though, if you want modern you get glass/steel or fiber cement panels and if you want traditional you get brick/wood.

I’m looking for myself in those photos since I was wandering through the South End this afternoon.

Nan Xiang is not closed. They are renovating to be full service and serve alcohol.

Thanks, noted! I saw it was closed, then checked Yelp and it was listed as Permanently Closed there. Glad it's not then.

Saw the first flurry of the season while out that day! (even if it only lasted for a minute)

I live around the corner and that's what our neighborhood association was told. It hasn't been that long either.

Looks like they closed September 1 according to what the flyer had said. They were deferred for an incomplete application at the August 6 licensing board meeting and have not yet returned for approval of an alcohol license. As far as I can tell, no work has taken place since the closure.

Confirmed that Nan Xiang is not reopening, at least under that name. New restaurant "Novo Lantern" taking its spot. Signs are now up.

Unfortunately, it seems like this project might have gone inactive...it's been months since any progress on the exterior has been made.
