South End Infill and Small Developments

pre cast must have gotten more expensive than laying brick in the last couple years as most projects have switched to real brick

Taken yesterday (7/20):

Also 85 West Newton Street:

And O'Day Playground Renovations:

Looks like the League of Women for Community Service building at 558 Massachusetts Avenue is finally getting some long-overdue TLC.

(from 1941 and 1956 respectively)

Meanwhile, the long-vacant 429 Massachusetts Ave. up the street seems to have lost its unsafe building sign recently...still looks otherwise abandoned though.

The foundation seems to match the drawings, but I can't figure out how the mansard roof is supposed to work. It looks like they copied the building to the right of this, but it would actually have to be mirrored instead?

Imagine having your brain completely unplugged and just operating on limbic reflexes. That’s the status quo of Boston architects.

That would be great but I think the 5 year gap might be difficult to overcome
The woman who owned the Gallows also started Blackbird Donuts, Banyan Bar and Refuge (nearby), and Sally's Sandwiches. The restaurant group is still called "The Gallows Group." There is capital, question is whether there is interest.

I was aware of that but you do make a good point that it’s not outside the realm of possibilities. Imagine if gallows and Stella came back? Peak Washington street right there! (I used to live above Stella)
