Malden + Melrose Infill and Small Developments

When did Melrose stop being a dry town? I saw a "wine & spirits" store sign upthread.
Melrose was a "moist" rather than "dry" town before that, strictly speaking. After the 21st Amendment repealed Prohibition and returned control over the matter to the states, Massachusetts in turn gave municipalities a large role in making decisions for themselves. At that time, Melrose was still a Yankee-dominated place with growing numbers of Catholics. "Moist" was the likely compromise that lasted decades.

It's interesting that the only mention of climate change is in passing to urban heat, but no mention of risks from being adjacent and round areas to the immediate east that could well be affected by potential flooding from the Romney Marsh. Broadway limbs around the potential floodplain that could become the successor to the Romney Marsh
