681-687 & 689-697 Main Street, Melrose​

An application for Site Plan Review and a Reduced Parking Special Permit has been submitted to the Melrose Planning Board for a development at 681-687 & 689-697 Main Street. The proposal involves demolishing the existing structure and constructing a four-story mixed-use building with commercial space on the first and second floors and 16 residential units above. Relief from the Zoning Board of Appeals is required for maximum floor area, minimum open space, lot area, and rear and front yard setbacks.

This is the longggg vacant Caruso's Pizza site and the abutting small businesses. There was a more modern 4-story building proposed here a couple years ago that apparently didn't move.

Its nice theyre not losing the retail on that corner, it looks like theyre actually getting more retail spaces plus the residential units added. Looks decent too, this is exactly whats needed.
