“A Quincy-based developer has acquired 121 Brookside Avenue for $3.1 million, securing $8.875 million in financing through Unitas Funding to support a new mixed-use development. Plans for the property include the construction of a four-story building featuring two artist live/work spaces and 11 garage parking spaces on the ground floor, with 21 residential units above…….”

I dont think it's a good project at all, but it's sad to hear that the Arboretum apparently was offered the option of expanding its footprint and declined—they probably could have gotten some sort of city and state support for such a purchase, which could have led to a much greener presence as you head toward Arborway. The hypocrisy stuff is unsurprising.

While the nuns waited for months to meet with Boston Chief of Planning Kairos Shen, Friedman maintained consistent communication with Shen about his opposition to their project.
It's Harvard's town and we're all just living in it.

Kudos to the Crimson for calling this out.

Rogerson House Redevelopment Project Receives Full Zoning Approval

“At the beginning of June, Rogerson Communities received full zoning approval from the City of Boston for our Rogerson House redevelopment project in Jamaica Plain. This approval, granted unanimously by Boston’s Zoning Board of Appeals, caps off a two-year entitlements process involving multiple public meetings, design reviews, and stakeholder discussions.

Originally opened in 1997 as the Boston Alzheimer’s Center, Rogerson House was the first assisted living community in Greater Boston to care exclusively for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. Our flagship community will now be redeveloped to contemporary standards with a wide array of improvements.
The new Rogerson House will consist of 66 memory care residences, a doubling of the number of memory care units on site…..”

“A new mixed-use development at 3458 Washington Street in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood has secured a $9.5 million construction loan through Florence Bank to advance the project. Squid Hell could become apartments in Jamaica Plain

Rendering of proposed apartment building

“A pair of developers have proposed replacing the old Squid Hell recording studio at 84 Stonley Rd. in Jamaica Plain with a five-story, 28-unit apartment building overlooking the MBTA bus yard.

The proposal for the $8-million building, by developers Colm O'Shea and Patrick Maloney of Hyde Park, calls for no parking - citing its proximity to the Forest Hills T stop.
Five of the units would be rented as affordable, to people making no more than 60% of the Boston area median income.
The two hope to begin demolition and construction in the fall of 2027, with the building finished near the end of 2028…..”
