    preservation

I've been in there. Not empty, used daily as a warehouse by 30-somethibg employees. They still use and maintain the two original McLaughen Co. wooden elevators in the former Allston Hall building. Also still existing is the original ticket booth, dressing rooms, and back office offices. It's all...

    France, but mostly Paris

I had to look this up. I could see something similar being appropriate hete, although I'm sure it would be a much greater fight to get it done. I'm sure Paris has some kind of exemption for construction vehicles?

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Re: The Boston Garden (TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End It's a shame the moved away from the left side of the new podium looking like the old garden (complete with sinage). That was a fantastic little homage that's lost in this iteration. For reference: Loved the NORTH...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

For further discussion on rebranding, I posted in the Reasonable Transit Pitches thread.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

The reason I didn't include the existing key routes is that a lot, like the 66, are terrible. Just like the SL4/5 brings down the Silver Line brand, the really slow routes will bring down this new brand. Like yeah, the CT1 gets bogged down in traffic, but at least it skips stops.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Bus Rebranding I touched on this up in the SL Chelsea thread, but its more appropriate here. The two distinct services on the current silver line are not going to be connected any time soon, and with the Transitway service being further expanded I think the Washington St routes really need to...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

They need to stop branding the Washington St and Transitway routes as the same servic. They're not, in any way. Having 1,2,3 go through the Transitway, 4,5 on the surface and not actually connected, and then 6 onwards back through the Transitway is going to confuse tourists, etc even more.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

But aren't / shouldn't they be? GLX, red to blue, BL to Lynn/Danvers, OL to Roslindale, GL to Needham is easially 40 years in the pipeline. Past there, OL to Reading, Red to Waltham and/or Arlington, Green to West Roxbury or even Winchester, etc. That's not counting ongoing maintence like bridge...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Re: Driven By Customer 'Service' Parte Dos OMFG I'm on the B right now and want to kill myself. Why do I ever do this. WHY!?!???!? That is all.

    The Tobin Bridge Thread

If / when the Tobin is rebuilt, Route 1 should be realigned to follow the Newburyport line through the tank farms in Everett, tying into 93 just north of Sullivan. This would reconnect both sides of Chelsea, as well as the Charleston waterfront to the rest of Charlestown. I've fantasized that...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I've mentioned this before, but with the seemingly endless possible expansion projects, I feel that the T should have an in house design and construction team. Although as with any government entity, there is the possibility of superfluous management and union contract issues, it would bring...

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Re: Beacon Yards Masterplan Those were two solutions to a sketch problem put on by the BSA. They presented them before one of the pike meetings to show the potential of the site, but nothing's official.

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

There's nothing about that design that's "Historic", other than that it uses contextual materials and massing. The cornise is very modern compared to what an actual Historic pattern would be, as are the store fronts. Just because it doesn't subscribe to the cult of modernism doesn't mean it's...

    General Infrastructure

As long as its not crazy restrictive, I think this is a great idea. It does need to take down the existing systems in place though. If under this new system a Cambridge cab can't pick up in Boston, etc, its useless.

The Eddy | 6 New Street | East Boston

Re: New Street - East Boston Did you really just dig up and bump a four year old thread? Especially with this at the top?

    MA Casino Developments

It would make more sense to send a green line spur that way via the new yard and Sullivan.

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

No tripod, but I take my morning coffee right in the corner of our garage while the wife smokes a cig, so I can take a pic daily from the same spot. Great idea! Also, its an apartment with a condo tower. The hotel is going across the street, behind slumbrew. The other fenced off parcel is going...

Been watching them dig holes and then fill them back up the past few days... stuff's happening, I suppose.

    MA Casino Developments

View: Bunker Hill, Schraffts, and Downtown. You could see the Back Bay before Partners went up, still can over by the river. I spend a lot of time up on the roof. Honestly, even the power plant is pretty majestic from up high.

    New Ideas for the Site

I used to post a lot and have been busy with getting married, job searching, moving, and life. It's also the last week of summer; people are vacating and such. I'm sure more than a few people are also on Sept 1st leases and looking for a new place / packing.
