The blue light poles are the best thing here. The acorn street light in and of itself is fine but it's everywhere and greatly overused. Lighting is one of the cheapest and easiest venues to do something creative with civic design and more of this kind of thing should be officially encouraged.

The names for these places are getting rather silly.
Not bad at all, a quiet dignity rather than look-at-me shouty. And the scalloped panels will make interesting shadow effects throughout the day when it's sunny.
For some mysterious reason all the trees just planted on the sidewalk here have been cut down and a crew was digging up the brand new sidewalk. (no pic).
Not really seeing the alleged awfulness of this. It's updated institutional Bauhaus – there may be some corporate chilliness and might appear thin in places but overall it's fine. Also there is no landscaping yet to soften the edges.
