the red line in cleveland mixes heavy and light rail? at tower city center their light rail and heavy rail uses the same tracks but board on different parts of the platform that are highfloor and lowfloor respectively, but yeah ill concede itd be better if it didnt so additionally: if the B...

hello, had an idea for a blue-orange line junction at state i wanted to understand the doability of this junction before i spend time exploring possible service patterns so i came to you all heres my very basic mockup of how the junction could theoretically work "cyan" is the name of a...

i want to do it for future proofing mostly, 4 tracking to north station then having 2 tracks go north to sullivan square and chelsea and beyond, in general just expansion of rapid transit without having to build a new tunnel through downtown (except parkstreet-gov center)

hey guys, back again i was wondering if 4 tracking park street-government center is possible by building the second pair of tracks below the existing ones? im not sure if there would be room at park street without rebuilding that portion of the red line, but theres room for an incline abefore...

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

omg i didnt think i would generate this many responses ty everyone my (current) plan is to make the NSRL start going deeper somewhere after central station, then go underneath the rapid transit of north station, under the river and then come back up on the other side. im not sure if the portals...

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

Putting here tentatively even though I think it's somewhat viable . . .. So the NSRL isn't getting built for a long while, we need electrification first and all that, So maybe (hopefully) in a better future where highways are less prioritized, the central artery can have every on and off ramp...

What is the solution to this? Putting fare collectors at every door (I think they already did this they're just not on yet) has to trust people will use them, and if every station is rebuilt with fare gates there's nothing stopping people from walking on the tracks into the station

    Green Line Reconfiguration

this does disprove my point yes. i have to admit i see light rail as dinky so i dont really treat it fairly compared to heavy rail, ill work on that absolutely. Housing density is diverse and widespread, but what we need is new big job centers outside of downtown so we can continue to grow...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

i think that the capacity limits of light rail really holds back the development potential of the communities it connects. Im not advocating for turning the B branch into manhattan or anything like that but its clear that future urban growth needs to be polycentral to be sustainable. basically i...

I have been lurking for along time reading the thread, and granted ive only read up to page 66 but i havent seen any mention of converting the green line trunk into heavy rail? the only huge obstacle i see is boylston so i was curious why its not been brought up all the other stuff is awesome i...
