Yeah... and that's pretty much the way it looks in person, unfortunately

It's not a great design, but this is one of those buildings that's just better in person than in pictures. The gray panels actually look pretty nice, not cheap and cardboardy like they always seem to come across in photos.

    San Francisco high-rise sinking, tilting

The Harmon in Las Vegas is another interesting story. "Completed" in 2009 but never occupied. It was originally intended to be 49 stories but cut back to 28 when construction defects were found. It was deemed unsafe anyway though, and they ended up demolishing it just a few years later.

Walked by after work today. Hadn't realized from other photos that the thin verticals on the side facing 100 Summer were actually an orange gradient, not glass. Looks good.

Spot on, especially the Farnsworth comparison. And the tallest portion, above the orange part, looks a hell of a lot like the Ferdinand Building in Nubian Square.

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Saw this thing in person for the first time in months today, and I really gotta say that it was stunning. The way the glass was reflecting the clouds was almost other-worldly.

I don't hate them. I like that they're crooked and unaligned. Adds a little excitement, gives you a reason to look up because the architecture of these buildings sure doesn't make you want to do that. Also ironically helps to humanize the buildings a bit. The exteriors of both buildings...

Kenmore Square North (WHOOP) | 533-541 Commonwealth Ave | Fenway

I just can't get as worked up about this as most of you. To me, the worst thing about this development (by far) is still the loss of the West Gate building. The new building is bland and sterile, sure, but hardly offensive. If West Gate had been saved I don't think I'd have any qualms about...

    Framingham Developments

Nearly forgot about these pictures I grabbed while in downtown Framingham last Thursday. I gotta say that, despite the banality of these projects, and despite the general negativity expressed here, collectively these feel like a huge win for Framingham when taken in context. It probably helps...
