    Crazy Transit Pitches

This is roughly the route I get whenever I try to figure out a circumferential routing. It misses a few locations you'd rather hit (like Dudley), but so few other routings seem feasible to me. If I'm feeling adventurous I sometimes ponder sending the tail end up north from JFK out towards Marine...

    Red Line Extension to Mattapan

Sometimes I look at streetview of Washington St and marvel that they managed to fit an El down that thing in places.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

The longest platform is definitely long enough for this, as I've been on trains that needed to be pushed into the station by a following train. However, I'm sure there are a number of massive caveats and asterisks following that statement, not the least of which is that I'm pretty sure the...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

It looks like they're trying to minimize pedestrian track-crossings? Seems absurd because they've already got another at East Somerville, but I'm sure there's a legal/logistics/operations reason why they're restricting people from crossing tracks. Looking at it more, though, the East Somerville...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Clearly the best possible solution here is to build as many NSRLs as possible. https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1GWt1nkY4LZUJ6qD2QKu02enBKYfOdim4&ll=42.35839000473386%2C-71.04896065000003&z=14

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

The only real expansion on the table right now (other than the Foxboro pilot) is South Coast Rail, and maybe whispered rumors of a Haverhill extension to something near Rosemont. The various proposals for the vision plan have either accomplishing Phase 1 (via Middleboro) or Phase 2 (via...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

See my post in the thread dedicated to it. I go over a before and after schedule for the Franklin Line. TL;DR is that the inner portions of the line maintain peak hour service at most major stations, and some see a very minor increase. Outer line sees a small net decrease in peak hour service...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

It is decreasing service levels to some key parts of the Franklin Line and resulting in a whole lot of delays (I can't be sure the delays are caused by the pilot, but the line's been running okay for a while before this and then suddenly I'm fifteen minutes late to work every day). I think the...

    Crazy Highway Pitches

Turnpike Pancakes? Turncakes! Get your turncakes here! Though in all honesty, further decking of the cut-portions of the expressways seems like only a positive thing in terms of stitching communities back together. Unfortunately so little of these highways is in a cut, and we've repeatedly seen...

    Foxboro Weekday Service Pilot

I'm not seeing much on the MBTA site, but word on the train was that it was signal issues. I would be surprised if it was related to Foxboro, but there were a lot of people unhappy about the changing schedule on top of the delays. My biggest concern would be this leaving a sour taste in people's...

    Foxboro Weekday Service Pilot

The line was just short of a total meltdown this morning. Trains were running about twenty minutes late. Not a great look for introducing people to a new service, but hopefully things settle down in the next couple of days.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I definitely felt like there were eyes on me while I was walking up and down the platforms. Nah. All in good fun.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

For some reason I decided to take photos of all the supports. Looks like most are still capped. Bottom to top is platforms 1-12.

    archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

I'd just like to put myself down as not a huge fan of this, though I'm sure others will be. With the loss of the original thread title that a given post was made to, it seems like this will make it far harder to follow conversations that have been moved. Not to mention that breaking up threads...

https://cdn.mbta.com/sites/default/files/projects/glx/contract/glx-technical-proposal-second-half.pdf (I'm referencing 4-174, about page 34). Looking at the official proposal, it's going to be really tight. I'd be surprised if the GJ tracks don't branch off immediately after the EB Union Square...

Huh? A single post poking fun at someone with very little interest in actually talking about the issues they brought up makes me a troll?

    New Cape Cod Bridges

The argument seems to be that replacing the bridges isn't fixing all of the problems with traffic, therefore we shouldn't touch the bridges. But the study seems to call for not-insubstantial changes to the surrounding roads that I haven't seen F-Line comment on yet.
