13 years and 103 pages on this thread. Dear God. What a broken failed system. How many tens and tens of millions did 13 years of underdevelopment cost the working taxpayers of Boston?? This project just needs to get done, and it would be a great addition, but for me I’m only believing it when I see Marty Walsh cutting a bloody ribbon. Until this one remains nothing more than a possibility!

They are exposed at least between tracks 9 and 10. further toward the postal service the structures are much taller (5 feet?) and do not appear to have been touched.
 
Out of curiosity, I checked out http://www.bostonplans.org/projects/development-projects/south-station-air-rights hoping to see some updates but nothing new since Dec. 2016. I would think if all obstacles were removed, we would have seen some new publications.

If the BPDA is no longer involved, there wouldn't be any updates - as much as we'd love a full clearinghouse for updates on each project, the BPDA isn't quite it. This is fully approved. Just needs the contractual barriers cleared.

The city’s building permit database may have the info you’re looking for here and for other projects.
 
I would say that if the rumors are true and Salesforce is now anchoring this, I do not find it at all surprising if it does happen (and happen quickly).
 
Amazing there's no way to decipher when the possible construction of a >200m tower, and complex similar in size to Winthrop Square and Bullfinch Crossing might actually start. Amazing in every which way...... but, at last: positive signs!!

How's this for an update.... FAA has determined that there is no hazard to air navigation in a letter dated 9/20/19.

Construction on what? The tower?
Dude -- that's why those pieces of steel have been there since the BIG DIG was freezing the ground underneath the tracks -- they are the direct manifestation foundation for the South Station Tower which begins one Big Floor above the tracks

690 above Mean Seal Level or 677 above the Street or about 620 above the 2nd level Lobby
 
A few years ago, it was 677/691' reflecting the sea level from the late '80's.
Then they raised the ocean a few inches and rounded up a foot: 677/690'
Then there was an updated FAA at 690/703' listed on there for a number of months. Maybe Hines was trying to see if they could shoehorn another floor, and bring it to the BPDA for new approval.
Now it's back to 677/690' we had a few years ago.
