Cape Cod Rail, Bridges and Highways

I agree with your earlier post, that car free on the Cape is challenging at best. We always bring a car, and while I have a few times taken the Flyer or the Fast Ferry when I wasn't able to travel on the same schedule as my family, in either scenario I've been picked up and driven for the final...

    Proposed watertown ferry

Maybe if you are only able to see spending through an investor's lens, but arguably it will get BPS students a world class athletic facility for half the cost. That pretty much defines a big reward to most of us.

Hyde Park Infill and Small Developments

Thanks for the updates, @mssrro! I believe the Cummins Hwy project is in Roslindale, though, rather than Hyde Park.

Trail users would also be virulently opposed to this idea.

Yesterday was painfully slow, but so far this morning it seems fine.

    Dana-Farber Cancer Center | 1 Joslin Place | Longwood

I know I've seen the idea in another thread, but I personally think Longwood would be the perfect location for a Miami style people mover. It would serve as a circulator within the hospital zone, and then an express connection to Ruggles for broader connectivity. It would be above street level...

Hopefully phase 5 will happen, which eliminates that surface lot. But that can't happen soon enough.

Franklin Park - White Stadium Renovation

I don't hate the name, but I think it would be best if a nickname establishes itself pretty quickly. That said, they chose an anagram of Bostonian. Bostonians FC would have been a great name, no need to re-arrange the letters.

    10 Malcolm X Blvd | Roxbury

Would definitely tidy up that side of the Square. Does anybody know what that pyramid looking building is in the render? It looks to be in that parking lot between the police station, library, and courthouse, but I don't recall seeing anything about a project at that location.

    Biking in Boston

Right. Most people who bike on the river paths for reasons other than recreation, are likely going to continue biking through the winter. So while the recreational bike riders may disappear, they aren't going to instead drive Memorial in the service of recreation. So very little of the...

    Biking in Boston

Your welcome to that opinion, but believe it or not, people legitimately don't notice those signs. And yes, I suppose in many cases it's because they care more about something else, such as interacting with their phone, or the conversation they are having with a walking companion, etc. But I...

    Biking in Boston

Although that is certainly true, I'm not sure it's most of the issue. I think people are mostly just clueless. The truth of the matter is that if somebody isn't a bike rider, they very likely have no idea that these are explicitly not mixed use paths.

    Dana-Farber Cancer Center | 1 Joslin Place | Longwood

I would love to see a map of the entire gerbil tube and connecting hallways network. I really think that concept is quite cool, just the way you can walk from Back Bay Station to Hynes Convention Center without ever going outside.

State Street HQ | One Congress | Bulfinch Crossing | West End

Presumably you have some ideas about what might be done to mitigate the visual impact at some future date? Just trying to understand the perception issue, but, for example, would things improve with additional towers generally in this neighborhood? Or is it about needing more background filler...

Transit via the Grand Junction Corridor | Cambridge and Boston

I've never really thought about where a Grand Junction line might go once it crosses under the BU bridge, I have generally felt that elevated rail would work best. It would leave the option of continued main line use, leave room for a mixed use path, and avoid traffic disruption where it crosses...

    Biking in Boston

You raise an interesting question. I've always kind of assumed it was about positioning of the two paths, more than it was about the surface. But, as I think about it some more, I think there perhaps is an intuitive preference for asphalt. I'm thinking about the Arobroway paths around Forest...

    Biking in Boston

I don't know how effective they are at modifying pedestrian behavior, but I definitely appreciate when the pedestrians stick to the right. If some cheap signs increase the percentage that do so, then I'm all for that.

    The Official MBTA System Map

I don't think the parallel service is for the sake of people going between Ruggles and Jackson Square. It's for the sake of people transferring from another bus and going from there to Dorchester. I suppose it might be worth studying the idea of skipping Jackson, but even if they do that, the...

    Biking in Boston

That's a nice improvement, as is the newish speed warning sign approaching the blind passenger exit at Stony Brook. But the biggest need for the SW Corridor path is to figure out how to make it less appealing to pedestrians. I understand why people walk on the path -- they prefer mixing with...
