Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Order of operations is hard. Nothing you've said, though, makes the idea of trading the Union Square branch for better headways during non-standard operations any less wild though.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Better for who? Certainly wouldn't have been better for Somerville's development goals. The Gov Center garage work is an extraordinary circumstance, and it would have been bizarre to plan a permanent infrastructure build around a temporary circumstance, no matter how painful things are going to...

Commuters Ditched Public Transit for Work From Home. Now There’s a Crisis.

Its not just the vibes, but really a combo of the vibes and the fact that the bay area has a bunch of different options to get across the bay. When you don't have to go into the office 5 days a week, the extra 2 or 3 dollars for a ferry or trans-bay buses becomes more palatable. Personally, I...

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

Saw this on Reddit: New fare readers are being installed on green line trains. Looks like we’ll be getting something like 10 readers per unit (2x at each main door and 1x by each cab). That feels like a lot?

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Yeah, the streetsblog article linked on the website quotes an MBTA spokesperson: "All areas of the project were designed to be within compliance of all ADA requirements. It is not uncommon after construction is complete to discover small areas that are not in full compliance due to construction...

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

Not trying to defend the MBTA's rollout, but man that headline lacks nuance. The article itself is better, but we all know that most folks will just see the headline and not click in. Part of me wonders how much of this pain is being caused by the T wanting to support legacy CharlieCards...

And its worth remembering, thats the lowest the fees will EVER be.

I don't know why, but this feels very DC to me.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Muni out in SF does this: basically the app tracks where you primarily use it, and if you fall within SF using primarily MUNI services, it gives you the paid tier for free. They also have custom prompts when you use Go, instead of asking if your train/bus is crowded etc, they ask if the stop is...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

This is a lose-lose for the city. Highland is in a shitty state, but doing anything to fix it now would just be waved around as waste given that it would just get torn up again for the sewer separation projects. The city can't do shit until the lawyers sign off on everything, otherwise somebody...

Union Square Somerville Infill and Small Developments

Those permits were posted before the pandemic. Not holding my breath on it opening any time soon.

Boynton Gateway | 495 Columbia Street | Somerville

I think Gateway is just a fancy marketable way of saying bottleneck 😂 Westbound, Windsor Place can get very very backed up during evening rush… and that’s with the yards being mostly warehouses and scrap yards.

Union Square Somerville Infill and Small Developments

Having lived on that stretch of Prospect, I’d argue that everything between Houghton and Concord basically are in an overlap area belonging to both squares.

Union Square Somerville Infill and Small Developments

It absolutely is. I remember when it first went on the market, I watched a person in a Tesla try and take the turn for a good 5 minutes, give up and then just block the driveway. They've since gone in and tried to expand the garage door... it was a hackjob and it looks like it.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Yeah, the 25 minutes was inclusive of a long stop on the viaduct before the Union/Medford switched and a long stop somewhere behind the Target. Two inbound trains from Union passed us in the mean time, and the other track was occupied once we finally pulled into the station. 🙄

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

This has been happening for a while. Once took me 25 minutes to do Lechmere to Union at 11:30 at night.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

The breakdown of positive and negative feedback by region is amazing. The general sense in Somerville was: “Well they know that we’re gonna complain about it, so we might as well go hard.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Was on a 1 car from Union that turned back at Government Center. Was pretty funny how confused everybody was. I don’t think I’d ever seen a train that used that platform before.

New Red and Orange Line Cars

Speaking of door issues… some folks on Reddit had an open air ride to DTX today. Door issue aside, I’m more confused as to how they’re looking from the inside of a passenger cabin straight into the cab of another car. I would have assumed they should have been looking into the passenger cabin?

    Union Square D3.1 | 50 Webster Avenue | Somerville

As far as I know, there aren't any proposals for the mess that is Prospect-Webster-Concord. It wasn't mentioned in the neighborhood meetings, nor was it included as part of the draft cycling plan. Somethings going to NEED to change there, because that intersection is really a hot mess.
