I know it would never happen...actually years ago the state was scouting locations for a new Boston airport. Our best chance was the South Weymouth Naval Air Station, but I think that went belly up.

That's terrible. How could this have happened to us. I thought everything had to have some sort of architectural merit in this city. I remember when the original version of the Hotel Commonwealth was built...everyone was up in arms. I'd take that over this any day.

It's really a surprise that this is happening in New England, where home-town pride and 'independence' is so strong. Maybe the feeling is different in Maine? I know a lot of towns in Massachusetts could benefit from consolidation.
