    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Why are these people any different than the rest of us? I guess if they don't get paid, then they can't pay their dues. If they can't pay their dues, then the union goes belly up. Oh well.

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

It seems that all of these commissions and boards and community groups have opinions on most projects, however that does not necessarily mean that it will stop a project...it's only when the media picks up on something like this we get fired up.

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

People, let's not make judgments on Fan Pier based on this rendering. Until we see the actual designs for each building, we can't determine what it will really look like. The rendering was just to give us an idea of what it might look like - in terms of density and building placement. Every...

    Harvard - Allston Campus

^not to get side tracked, but recently (a year ago maybe) Harvard Law School purchased land from the University to build its new residential quad. It's strange that the university has to buy things from itself, but each school is extremely autonomous, just like when a state buys land from the...

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

I like that idea too. It just makes sense and what a way to revive West Street. It's a win-win maybe except for the kids who are going to live there at first.

    The Future MBTA

You did a terrific job! I think the maps are really cool and are a useful aid in visualizing future potential lines. Can you update or edit the one you already made?

    new FBI Boston headquaters

I agree, Ron. The FBI, with their security requirements, ought to be located somewhere in suburbia. Imagine a new headquarters building with barriers around the perimeter of the building. That does not make for a good streetscape. Just look at the Federal Reserve and the O'Neill Federal...

Many state troopers make more than governor

Easy Dude, just go with the facts and respond in-kind. Supply and demand with respect to labor markets work only in a truly free labor market (ie Dubai, China, etc...). Union demands will artificially push wages higher and skew the labor market. Of course it's artificially higher from the...

    Blue Line extension to Lynn

If they can get a Federal capital grant to extend the blue line to Lynn, then they will do it. Right now however I think all of the Federal money for the time being is tied up with the Green Line expansion to Medford. It will be at least 20 years before we see an actual solid plan for the Blue...

    The Future MBTA

Van, One thing I would try to avoid is branching the Green line too much. As it is, it is very difficult for the MBTA to run trains on a fixed schedule or at least without delays. In fact everyday is a learning experience for them on the Green line.

Many state troopers make more than governor

Patrick, you are correct that both police officers and teachers' (public) salaries are capped - capped by a contract negotiated between their respective unions and the administration. There are probably some sort of COLAs built in. Because unions have a lot of power in the public sector, the...
