A question for those who drink Dunkin Donuts iced coffee

Dunkin Donuts should eliminate the styrofoam cup altogether, I hate them. The Globe had a good article today about how Green Mountain Coffee has developed an even better eco friendly coffee cup. They replaced the plastic liner in a paper cup with a "bio plastic" made from corn. Great idea

Behnisch to design new Pittsburgh waterfront

I agree. If wind turbines are thoughtfully incorporated into the design scheme, they can enhance the look of the project. The kinetics alone make for an interesting visual display.

Smallest economy car yet heads for US market

I wouldn't want to drive one on a highway either, but I also wouldn't drive a motor scooter on a highway, and to me a smart car is an enclosed four wheel motor scooter. Some one mentioned it before, but that's why they are so popular in Europe, for getting around cramped cities, similar to a...

Smallest economy car yet heads for US market

I've seen a few smart cars around town already. I would totally buy one of these, it fits my lifestyle, but that's of course if I decided that I need a car. Besides the fuel efficiency, I'd say the biggest plus is parking. you could easily squeeze in to that spot next to a fire hydrant that...

Garden Under Glass only 'Mostly Dead'

Yes, this is BS. MassHort has had control of this piece of land and its vision for over a decade. It should have been clear much earlier that there would be problems with funding and building out the desired original plan. I really like the idea of having a winter garden in Boston, but...

    Bikes On The T

Yay, this is great! I was hoping the commuter rail would do something like this... now the car maybe completely eliminated for commuters who take the rail.

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

This thread has been quiet for a while. Construction was supposed to start this spring. Anybody notice any activity yet? Boston.com has a cool info-graphic set up: http://www.boston.com/news/specials/columbus_center/flash_graphic

    Kendal Square Residential

Good question. Do you think they were waiting for Watermark to be finished? The only thing I can see holding back Constellation Center is a problem with funding.

    Kendal Square Residential

Yeah, those parking lots are never completely filled, and I never see people in the landscaped "parks". When was the Volpe Center built? It reeks of towers in the park aloofness.

    Kendal Square Residential

Went the the Centra/Ruddy website and found the following renders. It looks like it will be lowrise only 8 stories at the highest point. But If I remember correctly, this is a large lot and I'm much more concerned with street level appearance. I like the streetwall and retail aspects of this...

Mayor halts construction on Boston's streets

Yes! I know that part. A stretch of Beacon St in Somerville, heading towards Somerville Ave is very bad too, and all due to poor patchwork after construction

Mayor halts construction on Boston's streets

My greatest fear while riding my bicycle in Boston is not the drivers.... its the condition of the roads. Sometimes I end up riding in the middle of traffic to avoid potholes and uneven pavement on the sides due to shoddy repair work. I totally agree with Menino and am glad he has done this...

    Another Mass Exodus!!

These statistics don't concern me. San Francisco also lost population during the same time frame, about 4.8%, and probably for the same reasons as Boston. Both cities are growing, and jobs are stable or increasing. It just seems that families are moving out. Do these statistics support...

45 Province St | Downtown Crossing

How are they going to demolish the parking garage? Are they going to implode it? It seems that the structures behind are too close to safely implode the building. Dismantling will take time.
