I'm probably as free market oriented as anyone on this site but I can't see the best case solution here being to raise prices until the market is satisfied. (Which they should do, but shouldn't stop there) I think the rub here is that there is plenty of land near the Littleton and other commuter...

In the first picture it looks like the fault of the city as the car appears to be parked at a meter?!?

I might in the minority here... but as many good things as I've heard about the program on Long Island, this seems like a tough pill for the State or City to pony up the cash for right now...

The difference would be everyone is able to use the roads (including trucks which pay taxes in the Commonwealth) where as only the freight carriers would bear the cost of switching to smaller trucks (which would be passed on to consumers to the extent possible). The point I was trying to...

What has your experience been in other cities? I don't recall other old transit systems (Chicago, NY or Philly) being any better than Boston (or even really close at all?).

Which section is up for the work? I used to live in Newton and am more familiar with the section from Beacon to Boylston than from Boylston to West Rox. I don't think I've ever seen more than a handful of cars on that stretch at the same time.
