Does anyone know what is happening on the side of the MassPike in the old Allston Rail Yards. I know they removed the toll booths and aligned the Pike, but there are giant bridge-size steel guarders sitting in the rail yard. I don't think the MassPike Rerouting has been approved?

The Aquarium people have a lot of nerve. They are demanding Chiofaro cover any financial losses the Aquarium suffers due to construction. The Aquarium in a (non-profit) business like every other business in the area. They are not entitled to anything that any other business owner in the area...

Note the article says the project is being built without subsidies. So much for the naysayers on this site who say convention-headquarter hotels always need subsidies. Get the government out of the way and let the private market operate.

It really bothers me that the Westin has declined to do the expansion given the state land they were handed. Expansion should have been mandatory if certain criterion were met. It just goes to show that Mass. officials should not be getting involved in complex deals, they just are not capable...

Don't forget, MIT will have to build a 400K foot building for the feds in order to have the right to build here. They are going to have to build something tall or dense in order to recover that cost plus the cost of building. Those who hope for a big park are off their rockers.
