Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Re: South Boston Seaport How is the design any different from when the Back Bay was laid out? And I mean that, seriously.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style - Part Deux

I can't wait to copy that photo and make greeting cards out of them. Thank you, Internet!

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Re: Filene's Well, the guy owns all the land, so a lot of things would have to happen for him to lose control of the project. He seems pretty confident that his financing is in order; unlike Filene's, where he was apparently looking for loan guarantees even after breaking ground, he has at...

    MFA Expansion

The "other side" has been renamed. It is now the Linde Family West Wing entrance (pronounced, "Lin-dee" not "Lind").

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

Re: Filene's Why in the world would you think that??? He's the only person who seems to have pulled it all together. I don't think financing is holding back Seaport Square; it's demand (and the approvals process).

Shirley Kressel vs. Boston City Council

After college, I was an "actor". Then, I became an "artist". Now, I'm a "writer". See how easy it is?

Atlantic Wharf (née Russia Wharf) | Atlantic Ave | Waterfront

Re: Russia Wharf That's an interesting point, underground. Hynes' first building in the Seaport is all rental, for instance.

    Boston picture book

I'm underwhelmed by the response to my idea! I'll work on flushing it out and get back to you. I spent some time at Borders today checking out what types of books are available. I think there's always room for more, good-quality books. I'll have to think about it. Or, just put the idea in...

For Boston, the lessons from Venice

Hey, any flooding will hit South Boston, first. I call that "karma".

    Boston picture book

There's been a couple of threads over the past year or two about putting together a book of photos of Boston. Several people said they were doing it, already (self-publishing, presumably). I'm curious. Readers of this site, what do you think would be most interesting, to you and to the...

    The New Retail Thread

I can't argue that there aren't empty storefronts, and I'm (very) happy that at least one company is investing in the neighborhood. I just think the dress shops (and home furnishings and knick-knack shops) have limited appeal. Plus, a dress shop doesn't have the type of traffic that some other...

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Re: Shreve, Crump & Low bldng may be replaced w/ new develop I think it is really great that people here have taken action on something; cynics always complain that people talk but don't act. I am so guilty of that. While I am ambivalent about this project, specifically, I appreciate the time...

TD Banknorth Garden Big Screen Rejected

"The Garden, home to the Boston Celtics and Bruins, had planned to use its billboard for color advertisements and promotions for the two teams." I don't know if I'm psyched about huge billboards used for advertising, regardless of location or purpose. I don't care for the Budweiser ad, for...

No More Streetview in Google Maps?!

This is the worst thread, ever. By far it beats, "What's the name of the Japanese restaurant in the South End?"

    The New Retail Thread

I don't see many empty stores or offices. And the real estate offices are dropping like flies. It's bad because they end up closing after three months from a lack of business, that's why. The corner of Dartmouth and Warren sees more action than the Combat Zone on a Saturday night.

    The New Retail Thread

Good news! okw, the women's fashion shop at 234 Clarendon Street in the Back Bay to 631 Tremont Street in the South End. Because if there's one thing we need more of in the South End, it's women's clothing.
