Was the West End run down, with a large amount of dilapitated and abandoned buildings? Was it a poor area back then?

    Boston Sports Thread

Go back just 10 years ago.... The Sox were mediocre, having just come off a LOOSING season, even with Nomah, Johnny V and Mo. They made the playoffs in 98, but were god aweful against the Indians. The Pats were starting the downward spiral after a SB apperance. Patsy Pete Carroll had no idea...

The Kensington | 665 Washington Street | Downtown

Re: Residences at Kensington Cause they, the builders, realize that it is waaaay to short for such a great location. That they are revising their plans for a spectacular, 40-45 story highrise equaling 1 Franklin in height and will be one of Boston's most architecturally stunning!? Yup, I...

Marriott Moxy Hotel | 240 Tremont Street (Parcel P-7A) | Theater District

Re: Theater District So is it safe to say that what was proposed for this site, a thin, 14 story mid-rise, is not going to happen? Anyone know what the status is?

45 Province St | Downtown Crossing

Re: 45 Province St I have to admit, I am kinda like "eh" with this. It's nothing great, yet it could be worse. I just like the added density it brings.

    Boston Skyline Photos

The skyline view from along the water in Quincy is wonderful. Makes me wonder if one day we'll see a connection of the skyline from Bay Bay to downtown. The gap is kinda of neat, but it would be great to see one continuous, dense skyline!

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 This building is gorgeous! I would absolutely take something similar to this in Boston, gladly sacrificing a 1,000 foot, uninspired tower. This would be so out of the norm for Boston, it would be a sight to see this peeking up over the other...

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

Re: Columbus Center - One tower, on so-called Parcel 16, would be 38 stories high. Does this mean a revised CC is in the works, or did the reporter get thier facts wrong? CC is proposed at 35 stories. - The other tower, on Parcel 17, would be 33 stories of market-rate housing, with 330 units...

Atlantic Wharf (née Russia Wharf) | Atlantic Ave | Waterfront

Re: Russia Wharf Does anyone know the time frame on this one? It seems that this has taken a long time to prep, obviously due to the sensitivity of preserving the original facade. I really look forward to watching this rise.

Too bad that don't find a way to soften up the concrete. It's a pretty cold building.

Columbus Center: RIP | Back Bay

Re: Columbus Center With fear of sounding pretty niave, why are air rights projects so complicated and take so long to complete? Is there a transfer of liability that needs to be overcome? Is the cost to purchase the rights to prohibitive? How do they determine the price for each parcel...
