I don't understand this either. They act like this dorm is going up on Charles Street. The dorm would be basically removed from the neighborhood.

IMO this and all the other plans proposed by members of this forum treat the massive area that is City Hall plaza very much the same way it is treated now - like some sort of special "zone" that is detached from the rest of the city. Think what you would want the area to be if you lived across...

This is a very important point. When I hear "City Hall" it makes me think not just about the building itself but the entire plaza. They were both designed together and exist as one architectural entity. It doesn't really make sense for one to exist without the other.

I meant the whole project. Is this on one of the islands or it part of the actual waterfront? Also I don't think that's a fountain. It appears to be several hundred feet tall. Whatever it is I kinda like it.

Yeah. Maybe it would be fine if there were a curving street wall of buildings on the opposite side of the street but the fact that it serves as one of the walls of the plaza doesn't make sense. Instead of enclosing the plaza and giving it a sense of definition, it does the opposite. Here's a...
